Be Alert Not Alarmed

We have been asked by Northants Police to share this message with our community so you can be alert not alarmed.

Please share this with your own community

The Threat on the UK mainland has not changed but we will not be complacent.

Northamptonshire Police officers and staff will continue engaging with the county’s Crowded Places and businesses to inform and advise them about the ongoing threat.

Force Special Branch Counter Terrorism Advisers are working closely with businesses to review their continuity plans and ensure their staff are trained to respond to incidents.

Vigilant behaviour by staff and the public can disrupt attack planning.

Businesses can run Vigilance Campaigns and their staff can attend Project Griffin events, arranged via DC Packman and PC Stephens.

Be Alert not Alarmed, Don’t become fearful or withdraw from your normal lives.

Report any suspicious behaviour to the Police who are here to support you.

Businesses and priority Crowded Places have been working with police to protect sites and staff from attacks.

These include music, sport and entertainment venues, restaurants, hotels and shops.

Be Vigilant and Report Suspicious Behaviour.

Police act on information from the public who report suspicious behaviour. “If you suspect it, report it” by contacting police directly or through the anti-terrorist hotline on 0800 789 321.

Plan now what you will do to STAY SAFE:

‘Stay Safe’ principles (Run, Hide, Tell) think about some simple actions to consider at an incident and that may help provide the information to officers in the event of an incident.

We are urging businesses to conduct a health check on their premises and make them aware of Crowded Place booklets (available on the NaCTSO website) which contain clear self-help guidance and checklists for this.

Northamptonshire police take hate crime very seriously and will investigate reports of such incidents and the community is encouraged to report them to us.
