Your Grange
About 2 and a half years ago I started litter picking on the Grange Estate. I can’t believe how this has snowballed into something much bigger.
We have had about 8 “Clean up the Grange” events to tackle the problems of historic litter and to clean areas that have been neglected for what appears to be quite a few years.
Several residents on The Grange Estate have took it upon themselves to perform litter picks, joined the poo spraying scheme, reporting fly tipping, over flowing bins and other issues.
I am always about the Estate litter picking not that there is much to pick these days.
We also have about 35 resident litter pickers who go about their own areas keeping them clean.
With everyone’s help and support the Grange Estate is looking the best it has ever been in the past 20 years.
This estate is massive, it will take a while to reach all areas, what has been tackled looks amazing. In most areas there is now no litter problem and the dog fouling has reduced considerably.
The credit for this goes to the good people who live in and around The Grange Estate, there are so many great people living here who care enough to make a difference.
Every clean up event has been a success we even did one to celebrate the first day of spring Keep Britain Tidy – Community Clear Up – National British Clean Up Day Results
Our efforts have not gone un-noticed we now have the help and support of Daventry District Council, Daventry District housing. Daventry Police SCT, Daventry Town Council and Enterprise Maintenance Services.
Northamptonshire Police and Crime Commissioner Adam Simmonds recently visited our estate and was astounded at our efforts and the results of all our hard work and asked how he can help.
I have since written a long list ha ha. No seriously I did write a long list, I believe if you don’t ask you don’t get and always ask for more than you think you can get.
I also believe if you make an effort to help yourselves then others are more likely to offer you help – you reap what you sow.

W ciągu ostatniego roku mieliśmy dwa razy “Porządki na The Grange”. Dni te zorganizowaliśmy aby rozwiązać problem zalegających śmieci oraz przepełnionych śmietników, oraz aby uprzątnąć miejsca które wydaje się zostały dość zaniedbane przez kilka lat.
Kilkunastu mieszkańców osiedla wzięło na siebie obowiązek zbierania śmieci, dołączyło do programu spryskiwania niesprzatnietych psich odchodów, raportowania przepełnionych śmietników i innych problemów.
Osiedle nasze ma dużą powierzchnie więc zajmie to trochę czasu aby dotrzeć do wszystkich obszarów. Miejsca o które zadbalismy już wyglądają niesamowicie. Z wielu zniknęły zalegające śmieci a liczba nieuprzatnietych psich odchodów znacznie zmalała. Pożytki z tego idą do nas wszystkich. Wielu dobrych ludzi, którzy mieszkają w okolicy The Grange zależy bardzo aby coś zmienić. Maja dość czekania na usługi za które płaca, więc bezinteresownie wykonują te prace sami, robią to dla siebie ale również dla okolicy i jej mieszkańców.
